I chose to create a test-account in MacOS and place the beta on the desktop as you suggested.
Maybe a bit overkill but it makes me happy 🙂

Now I can fool around and keep my other sites save.

I had trouble changing the ‘Sites Location’ while using the beta alongside the production version on the same account.
