Adding images to posts – how to get them up to the web via Publii?

Building pages of content with Publii is nice & easy. No complications there as such.

However, where I am stuck is how to add images into pages so that they get uploaded to the web when I push site updates live.

So far, anytime I add an image, the actual url seen in the source code is just to a local file on my PC hard drive, which is of zero use to me, because I ultimately need the images pushed live to the site via publii AND the url in the source code to the image updated.

In wordpress, I am used to uploading any images I wish to use to the media library and then selecting them in the post. It works fine.

How do I get this to work with Publii? I have done some searching of documentation but can’t find the answer.

Is there a local folder I am supposed to manually add the images to before using them (or after)? Or is there some other way of making this work?

Any help in fixing this issue would be hugely appreciated as it is a major roadblock to me using Publii.

Publii does not store the images in an equivalent to /uploads/ in WP.  Instead every post has separate a folder for images (Ref)

I would assume that you’ve managed to insert images into your posts and can see them in preview.

If that’s the case, you should be able to see the images after you sync to your website too. The URL to the images will be adjusted accordingly.

    Hi shaun2k.

    Thanks for the quick response.

Unfortunately, I still don’t understand how the image files get from my local hard drive up to the web server?

The documentation around this seems slim or non-existent?

You click “Sync your website” and everything happens automatically. If you added an image to a post, you already did all you have to do.

Ah ok, cool. Thanks for explaining that. Now if I could only get the uploader to Amazon S3 to work, I’d be laughing!!! 🙂
