I’ve just discovered Publii, and am so, so grateful to its creators for liberating me from WordPress!
I’ve used WP for nearly 20 years but hated having all that content locked into such an overly complicated behemoth of a solution, which was a headache to move between web hosts — and gave me lots of panicky moments of fearing I’d lost everything.
My technical skills are limited, so I’ve barely done anything with Publii compared to the handsome examples I’ve seen here, but I still find it to be a simple, beautiful environment that works so elegantly…
…Once configured correctly: The images in my imported WordPress posts weren’t showing up on preview or upload (although I could see them in the program). After much searching and experimenting, I discovered I had to:
- Turn off “lazy load” in Theme/Custom Settings/Additional/Lazy load effects — explained here in the Publii forums
- Make Publii regenerate the site’s images with Site Settings/Website Speed/Convert to WebP format (I don’t know if this was necessary, but I figured it’d reduce load times and force Publii to make its own versions of the images, since it was having trouble with the originals)
With my pages posted, I’ve happily deleted WordPress from my server!
Thanks again to the developers and community for your hard work and generosity.
