WordPress import appears to hang

I’m trying the beta WordPress importer and there seems to be a problem. After confirming that I want to import categories and authors, I tell it to get started and it disables the UI as though it’s working, but never does anything after. The xml file is around 800KB, with the following details:
- Posts: 36
- Pages: 4
- Images: 235
- Tags: 0
- Categories: 5
- Authors: 6
If it’s trying to actively download the referenced images, then that’s probably the problem (I’m in a country with very slow access), but Task Manager doesn’t indicate anything like that.

I’ve killed it and tried a few times but it’s always the same. Is there anything else I can try or that I can provide to help further?

After playing with a bit more, it looks like it’s the “Import authors” option that’s causing the issue. If I don’t select that, it seems to work properly. Again, let me know if I can provide anything to help.
