build website for friend problem

hi, I’m building a website for my friend using Publii, it’s so convenient!

my problem is, I have done some customizations in Publii App(Global settings, themes, custom css, tags… )

but how do I “pack” all these customizations to my friend’s computer?

I’m wondering will it work if I backup the site, transfer the backup zip file to my friend, and he restore this backup to his vanilla Publii App?

Hi,

Yeap, you can create a backup website and send it to your friend.

Example:

If your site is called a TEST“, your friend should create the TEST folder in the following location: Documents ▸ ⁨Publii⁩ ▸ ⁨sites⁩ ▸ TEST and then unzip here the backup; finally, the TEST folder should contain three others: input, preview, output.

That’s it.

thank you so much for the quick reply!

sorry I forgot to mention that we used an external theme from the marketplace, should I also transfer the theme as a zip file to my friend then he unzip the theme files to documents/Publii/themes/ ?

or everything are already in the site backup zip file?

The site’s backup contains all files, so all you need to do is send him the backup.
