Is it possible to write and activate custom blocks in the block editor?

I am looking to build a few landing pages that rely on visually interesting bands of content, and I’d like to use Publii to make life easier on me and my content writers.  Bands are often two- or three-column affairs with images, forms, and text embedded in the columns.

I took a look through the Vue app code and it looks like the list of blocks is hard-coded? viz: https://github.com/GetPublii/Publii/blob/master/app/src/components/block-editor/components/BlockEditor.vue#L96-L113

Thanks, btw, for making Publii – it’s everything I ever wanted in a static site generator for blogs.

This would be such an amazing feature! I’ve been relying on the custom HTML block whenever I use the Block Editor, but having custom blocks would be phenomenal.

    Hi,

Making custom blocks is still in progress, but we have plans for such feature in one of the releases planned for this year. We will make it possible with plugins which will allow users to create custom blocks as plugins.
