How to enable search feature on Persona theme and others.

    Some of the Publii themes have no search feature. One of the latest themes, ‘Persona’, has no Google CSE-based search feature enabled. But it’s not good for the user experience. As it’s a blog-based theme, there should be a search functionality for the theme.

    I imagine that one or more ‘Search plugins’ may soon be available to buy or download for various themes. Alternatively, a theme may be modified to include one or more site Search options — though this process is more involved and the exact sequence might vary from theme to theme. Most likely, the Search plugin option is the way to go once available.

    Unfortunately not. 🙁  The output generated by the GCS plugin is a form with search input and submit button. So, in order to support any search plugin, you need to create a dedicated area for it in your theme and use a special code snippet provided by the upcoming Publii 0.40  release.

    Okay, then I will wait for the next publii update to roll out. Is there any timeline for the update, like when it will be out?

    It has already been done. Download the new 1.1.0.0 theme version, one of the available search plugins, and Publii 0.40 v.
