I imported 579 posts into Publii.

For the most part it worked great, I just have 2 main issues.

    1. The featured images didn’t come through
    2. Now I don’t have a list of posts in the posts page.

    Please help πŸ™‚

    Hi,

Regarding 1. – maybe featured images are not properly exported in your WXR file.

Regarding 2. – in v.0.40.3 which will be released in 1-2 days this issue should be resolved.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I will await the release and test in 2 days.

Will there be a notification through the Publii desktop app?

My post featured images are still not being imported. Can you help?

Should I use a WP export plugin to adjust my XML file? Other suggestions?

Is there a way to easily import them after the fact?

    Hi,

The v.0.40.3 with fix for empty posts listing is available for download.

Regarding WP export – I strongly recommend to use the official one to generate XML file with exported data.

Cool. I will download and try it. It doesn’t overwrite my current dev sites in publii when I upgrade will it? Does this version also fix the featured images importing? And also tags? I have done several imports and the featured images never come and the tags neither.

I have fixed the issue with empty posts list, because this issue has been reported few times.

I did not touch other things like WP Importer in this release. If you afraid about your websites – please just make a backup using Tools -> Backups for every website which you have πŸ™‚

I’ve been having the same issue – a WP export doesn’t list any post in the backend, though you can see them in preview mode. It was always like that and I thought it might just have been too many posts, over 1,000. So I updated Publii and the theme and hoped this issue would be resolved now. Sadly, no difference. No posts listed in the backend.

Version 0.40.3, same issue here (imported 200+ posts from WP backup and post list is now blank)

I also have the same issue here with the Version 0.40.3.

After the Import from WP I can’t even see the “Test”-Post I’ve written nor the ones I wrote after the import.

But when I preview all the posts, I can see them all.

Can anyone with this issue share here in a private reply his WXR file used to import? I would like to check importer on such case.

@ckae – thank you for your WXR file. There was two issues and now I have solved them – the fix will be available in v.0.41 planned to be released in ~2-3 weeks.

If you need – I can share with you a backup of the imported website via Google Drive so you won’t have to wait for the fix πŸ™‚

I waited some time but still no 0.41 out there so yes, the backup would be greatly appreciated πŸ™‚ Β how do I import it on my existing blog without losing existing, new posts?

@giovanni.jonvalli – Publii v.0.41 will be released in a few days around 31th October – so please wait till this release – I have removed your backup few weeks ago after lack of response.

I am not sure if you will be able to merge new posts with imported ones – WXR importer is dedicated for use on blank websites and we did not extensively test it with import on existing websites. So the best solution will be doing backup, remove old imported posts and then import again posts. If something will goes wrong – you can always restore website to the previous state using backup.
