Trying to install Publii.exe 0.43.1 (build 16393) on a 64-bit Windows 10 Pro 22H2 machine, the installation process “Installing, please wait…” got half way stuck with a strange Error message “Publii cannot be closed. Please close it manually and click retry to continue.” offering “Retry” and “Cancel”. As there is no Publii installed on that machine yet, there is no Publii which I could close. Clicking “Retry” did not help. Clicking “Cancel” and trying to install again did not help.

So, tried to install Publii.exe 0.42.1 (build 16233) instead but got the same Error message “Publii cannot be closed. Please close it manually and click retry to continue.” offering again “Retry” and “Cancel”. But this time, clicking “Retry” finished the installation process.

What is that strange error message “Publii cannot be closed. Please close it manually and click retry to continue.” about?

Why would Publii.exe 0.42.1 install on “Retry” but not “Publii.exe 0.43.1”.

What would help to be able to install Publii without such “Publii cannot be closed …” error message?
