I’m using Publii Version 0.37.3 (0.37.3) on Mac OSX. Intermittently, photos get rotated during upload, so that the large image looks fine, but the responsive images are rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise. It’s very odd. I don’t know how to troubleshoot this issue, so I don’t know what else I can report to you Happy to answer questions, of course.

This might be a duplicate of https://forum.getpublii.com/topic/rotating-images/#post-4654 which was posted as a bug report, but which you appear to have mistaken for a feature request.

I did a quick test and the attached photo displays correctly for me, the EXIF orientation value is set to Horizontal and that’s how it works for me.

I’m not sure what to make of that. On my mac, it is not horizontal, it is vertical. If I click on the image link in https://forum.getpublii.com/topic/publii-rotates-images-during-upload/#post-5022, the image displays vertically, not horizontally. It only becomes horizontal after putting it in Publii.
